Actually I just remember, this is due to the networkmanager plasmoid (as reported here by a fellow arch user: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=87134), placed on the kde panel by default, which makes plasma to crash. Solved by removing this plasmoid quickly at login before it crashes.

Yes...it is related to the unfinished NetworkManager widget.. 
I guess Arch needs to modify its defaults...
