Description Andreas Pietzowski 2010-03-23 11:17:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Recently I added my facebook jabber account to kopete. But all freinds are listed as top-level items. I cretaed a group "Facebook" and moved all the contacts in there. After a few hours (don't know exactly) or after reconnecting all those contacts are removed from the group and listed again as top-level items in kopete.

I also merged existing contacts of the same person with the new facebook account. Those exitsing contacts reside e.g. in the group "Family". When the facebook accounts move to the top-level also my (long-existing) merged contacts are moved out of "Family" to the top.

What is the cause for this automatic re-grouping?

Im not sure if this is kopete's thing. It depends how your contacts in fb are sorted.
So a solution is to create a list in facebook (account > friends > lists..) move the contacts as you wish(in facebook) and that way they will show in kopete.

I tried to create the same groups in facebook like I have in kopete and this works. Thanks.

But there is still some open issue. What happens if you put a person in facebook in two or more groups at the same time? Can kopete handle contacts in multiple groups? Or maybe Jabber protocol is not even supporting this. Would be interesting how facebook maps this issue to their jabber protocol.

To put the previous it in a nutshell, I have to create the same groups in every IM protocol system to be able to combine same contacts. Right or wrong?
