Description Rémy Epke 2010-03-20 17:51:08 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Unlisted Binary Package

In the Favourites (Favorites) tab in Kickoff, three items appear: Konqueror, System Settings and Dolphin.
Now I don't use Konqueror at all and I've put System Settings and Dolphin in a quicklauncher, so the first thing I did was delete said apps (and others that may have been there, don't remember as they are not part of the problem) from said tab.
After logging out of and back into KDE though, those three reappear in Kickoff Favourites.
I expect favourites to *stay* deleted, not to show their own will and reappear.

I run SabayonLinux 5.1, I have no other OS installed running KDE4.x
(I do however still have my old SL4 installation with KDE3.5.10 but obviously that's hardly relevant)

I did not include a screenshot just yet, but if a screenshot is needed please comment and I'll be happy to upload it and provide the link here.
If any other information is needed please comment and I'll be happy to provide it.

Kind regards,

Rémy Epke.

I can confirm this on 4.6.2, apparently when your favorites are empty plasma displays the default choice.
Comment 3 Martin Flöser 2011-12-08 20:33:26 UTC
Yes, if favorites are empty, the default ones are loaded:

QList<QString> favoriteList = favoritesGroup.readEntry("FavoriteURLs", QList<QString>());
if (favoriteList.isEmpty()) {
    favoriteList = defaultFavorites();
}

given this code it is expected and wanted behavior. Because of that I change to wishlist as it needs new code to be added to check whether all items have been removed.

Added myself to CC as I created a new account, since my @online.nl account is no longer in use due to change of ISP.

OT: any news? Kickoff still shows this behaviour.

KDE 4.8.0 now and still not solved.
Any news?

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
