Version: 2.3.0 (using 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1), Kubuntu packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31-20-generic Regardless of the number of times I scan for my collection, none is created. I've updated and fully scanned. I've removed and reinstalled. I can play files (but not see cover art) by browsing files but only files that are in the top level, not in a subfolder (can't see those files).
I am using Ubuntu 9.1 and always update when asked.
There should be new packages available that fix the collection issue. About cover art: Amarok does not yet support embedded cover art. About this bug: do not mix two issues into one -> one issue per bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 230916 ***
Thanks Sven but I have uninstalled and reinstalled via Ubuntu 9.1 software center and problem still exists (i.e. even after scanning, there is no local collection). Where would these new packages be? How can I completely uninstall so I get a clean install of the package without the bug? If this is not the appropriate way to resolve my problem, tell me what to do. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230916#c42 for a workaround and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230916#c47 for the up2date packages.
1) I used the workaround and amarok built a collection. Everything seemed OK. 2) I shut down. 3) Later tried restart and got a "amarok was shut down unexpectedly" notice. 4) Tried to file a bug report. The guide created a crash report but said the data was unusable. I added my comments anyway (which were that I was simply trying to restart). 5) Tried to send the crash report. No luck. 6) Completely removed amarok using sudo dpkg -P amarok to completely purge the application. 7) Reloaded using the workaround. 8) On restart of amarok got the same "amarok was shut down unexpectedly notice. I want to resolve this problem! What next? By the way, ubuntu 9.1 using gnome
This is a completely different issue than before. Remember: one bug per issue. Also, this is not a support forum but a bug tracker. Try with a fresh profile, you will find all settings-related files in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc If it doesn't work then ask in #amarok or #kubuntu on IRC.
