Version: (using KDE 4.4.1) OS: Linux After 15 minutes, PowerDevil causes the X process to use 100% of the CPU if I unplug my laptop from the power cord and the replug it. This bug looks very similar to Bug 174897 -- maybe the same problem reappeared or ít's something different. I'm not the only one experiencing this, judging by that thread: http://linux.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/alt.os.linux.suse/2009-01/msg00003.html My setup: openSUSE 11.2 with X.Org X Server 1.6.5 using NVidia's proprietary drivers. Other packages: http://en.opensuse.org/Product_highlights_11.2 KDE SC upgraded to 4.4.1
I also see this with OpenSuSE 11.2 and KDE 4.4.1 and Intel graphics. I think this started with the upgrade to KDE 4.4.0. This sounds like bug 174897 except that was fixed some time ago. Workaround: disable the powerdevil service. stefan@linux-qkjf:~> Xorg -version X.Org X Server 1.6.5 Release Date: 2009-10-11 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: openSUSE SUSE LINUX Current Operating System: Linux linux-qkjf 2.6.31.12-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-01-27 08:20:11 +0100 x86_64 Build Date: 02 November 2009 12:04:43PM
Same problem as Stefan here, also openSUSE 11.2, but with KDE 4.4.2. Disabling powerdevil + logout + relogin is a workaround.
