Description hanno 2010-03-12 21:43:37 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Sometimes when I start an application, I get this:

"Error launching [...]. Either KLauncher is not running anymore, or it failed to start the application."

This happens especially often right after the start of kde, but sometimes also on a running session. It only happened so far with kde's own apps, e.g. kmail. I'll attach a photo of the screen (can't do screenshots as it lock's the rest of the screen).

not a plasma bug, almost certainly a problem with your installation, not enough information provided to go deeper than that.

Erh and now? Can you tell me what information you need? What does "a problem with your installation" mean? Can you point me to some documentation what it could be?

The problem is definitely existing.
Comment 4 Stefan Majewsky 2010-03-13 17:57:02 UTC
I can confirm on openSUSE 11.2 with KDE 4.4.1, although I get this error message very seldomly only. This looks like a problem with either KToolInvocation or KRun, therefore reassigning to kdelibs (further triaging desired).

Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it was reported on an older version, can we please ask you to see if you cazn reproduce the issue with a more recent software version?

If you can confirm this issue still exists in a recent version, please change the version field and the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
