Version: 1.0.0 (using KDE 4.4.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Archlinux Packages My cousin and me are using OTR encryption plugins for messaging. While I'm on Kopete he is using Pidgin on Windows. Whenever we want to exchange files we need to stop the OTR-encrypted session first and then initialize the file transfer. Otherwise no connection can be established between us. It has been this way as long as I can remember using OTR. It is pretty annoying because you always have to stop writing in both directions so that the OTR session is not automatically restarted. It was also very hard to find the cause for those failing file transfers because we always blamed wrong configured portforwarding/client incompatibilities and things like that. It also seems IM protocol independent. Its the same on jabber and ICQ. I think this shouldn't be hard to fix. At least you could temporarily suspend the otr session when a file transfer is started or incoming.
I just have tried to transfer files using xmpp from Pidgin to Kopete and from Adium to Kopete. Both during an established OTR session. It worked without problems. Can you give some more details about both clients?
File transfer works (from Kopete to Pidgin) but the data is sent *unencrypted*. Kopete Version 1.6.60 Unter KDE 4.14.2 At least Pidgin documents that its OTR plugin does not support file transfer, but no warning is issued on either end before sending the file...
Thank you for the bug report. As this report hasn't seen any changes in 5 years or more, we ask if you can please confirm that the issue still persists. If this bug is no longer persisting or relevant please change the status to resolved.
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
