Description Marek Janda 2010-03-09 10:53:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I think the most important part of url is the filename, but if the file is located in deeply nested structure, you don't see it at all or you have to stretch bookmarks panel pretty wide.

(imho) better solution would be to:
1) replace /home/username with ~
2) cut overflowing text on the left instead of current right side (if possible)
3) full path is probably only used to find the folder on disk, so that could be solved better by right clicking on the file path and having "open containing folder" in the menu - along with remove all bookmarks (to justify having a menu there)
4) also (not sure if that isn't against some KDE HIG), it would be nice if the actual filename was bold or highlighted some other way

I agree.
It's very unfriendly and ugly.

I also concur. At the moment it is very difficult to locate the right bookmarks in the pane as the first parts of the file path are identical in almost all cases. It's the last few branches of the file tree and especially the filename that's important for identifying a file.
