Description Karl Ove Hufthammer 2010-03-06 23:01:28 UTC
Version: 1.0.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0), Mandriva Linux release 2010.0 (Official) for i586)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.12-desktop-1mnb

The format of the title of the chat windows,

  Participant name (participant status)

is not translatable in general. It should be (this is a problem at least for Norwegian). Note that for the Jabber protocol, it *is* translatable, with a proper message context marker:

http://lxr.kde.org/source/KDE/kdenetwork/kopete/protocols/jabber/jabberchatsession.cpp#159

This *may* be the corresponding line for other protocols:
http://lxr.kde.org/source/KDE/kdenetwork/kopete/libkopete/kopetechatsession.cpp#198

The ‘ (%1)’ string should be made translatable, and with the same context marker. This way, the existing translation can be used automatically.

I don’t have any any accounts in Kopete anymore, but looking at the source code, it seems like this bug is still present.

Note that the string needs to be translatable so that translators can use the ‘translation scripting’ feature. For example, for Norwegian Nynorsk, we use it to automatically change the status message to lowercase (e.g., ‘User1 (offline)’ instead of ‘User1 (Offline)’).

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
