Does your password contain a special character (ie. anything except a-z and numbers?). Then this might be the same as bug 165308.

Yes, in fact my original assumption was that Kopete was unable to handle my password due to either length and or complexity. I was thinking maybe if it encrypt/encodes it to send it over some character was incorrectly represented and thus the server denied the request. So I tried changing the password, vuala! However, whilst this test gave validity to my assumption I am still at a loss on how to solve the issue...

BTW, I do not store my password with KWallet or any other password storing program including kopete (I feel it to be unsafe).
