Version:           1.4 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0) "release 2", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.2)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.12-0.1-default

Whenever I try to open a file from within root Dolphin, I get the following message :
KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/(...)'. Also things like "search" or "report bug" or "open terminal" cannot be started from within the root file manager. The problem also exists fro me in konqueror.

Thanks for the bug report! This issue is known already.
