Version: (using KDE 4.4.0) Installed from: openSUSE RPMs Following procedure: - login to host, start kontact, switch to mail - exit kontact (and lock screen) - go to another terminal and login via NX, XDMCP or just switch sessions - use the same login/user again - start kontact Now kontact hangs and has to be killed. I assume kmail, because I get a stale /var/spool/mail/ lock file after the test. But because I'm not yet 100% sure, I assigned the bug to kontact for now. This worked fine with versions prior to 4.4. I did that for years using KDE 3.x w/o any problem, leaving the session open in the company because I have thousands of applications and xterms open, and relogin from home via NX, e.g. to check for mail. kontact/kmail was of course never running on the company session any more.
Correction: The procedure has to be as follows: - login to host, start kontact, switch to mail - exit kontact (and lock screen) - go to another terminal and login via NX, XDMCP or just switch sessions - use the same login/user again - start kontact, switch to mail - exit kontact - logout second session - go back to the first session - start kontact Now kontact hangs while starting and has to be killed.
Still valid for KMail 1.13.5 using KDE 4.5.1, using openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 KDE Factory Repos.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
