Description Tom Canavan 2010-02-26 02:52:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Compiler: gcc-4.4.3-4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Updated to KDE 4.4 by Fedora repo. Rebooted and started Kaddressbook. A message says "starting Akonadi server. Then it says "Akonadi not running". It flies past kinda fast. Then a message said my contacts had been successfully migrated. Closed Kaddressbook. About 15 seconds later an error message pops up saying:
Nepomuk Indexing Agents Have Been Disabled
The Nepomuk service is not available or fully operational and attempts to rectify this have failed. Therefore indexing of all data stored in the Akonadi PIM service has been disabled, which will severely limit the capabilities of any application using this data.

The following problems were detected:
Nepomuk is not running.
Additional help can be found here: userbase.kde.org/Akonadi

Went to the recommended site and ran some tests.

qdbus org.kde.NepomukServer /nepomukserver org.kde.NepomukServer.quit
   rm -r .kde/share/apps/nepomuk
   nepomukserver

The nepomukserver command says:
NepomukServer(2128)/nepomuk (server) Nepomuk::Server::enableNepomuk:
enableNepomuk false

Apparently I'm not using any kind of Apparmor. The mysql stuff seems to be in order.

When I go to the Akonadi tray icon, it says that Akonadi is running.
Start up Kaddressbook again. Still no contacts. Shutdown and reboot. The whole scenario starts again with the Nepomuk error message (but without the contacts migration message).
Sorry I don't know which logs to look at to paste stuff. If you could tell me, I would be glad to help.

None of my contacts show in the addressbook and attempts to import them manually do no good.

Hej,

this seems to be a general problem of KDE 4.4 update for Fedora,
please contact the user forums or support of your distribution.

Ciao,
Tobias
