can not reproduce with current 4.4 svn. Can you attach such a testmail here, please ?
I've gone back and looked for the original email that did it and luckily still found it in trash. The conditions were: using an imap server, with the load-on-demand option. The pdf file was a 2.2MB file, so it was large and took a while to load when clicked on. I clicked on it twice and as soon as the first one opened in kpdf I closed kpdf and that's when kmail crashed. Being a 2.2MB pdf you probably don't want me to attach it here. I can't reproduce it every time but it is reproducible, and it seems to only happen when it has to redownload the whole attachment.
Thanks for the detailed description.
