It would be nice if the transition effect when the thumbnail tooltip is switching which window is being previewed included a fade effect to switch to the new window, i.e. the old thumbnail fades out as the new one fades in. As is, the new window pops in in a jarring and abrupt way.

sorry for the very late reply. The effect in question is no longer available in KWin 5. The taskbar thumbnails are now handled directly in Plasma.
