Version: (using KDE 4.4.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages In recent versions, the (otherwise very handy) Folder > Remove Duplicate Messages feature has been behaving strangely. Occasionally my POP mail server loses its memory of what's been Popped and what hasn't, releasing an avalanche of "new mail." KMail used to dispose of all the messages colored red, while leaving the "real" message (which I've often flagged Important or Action Item or whatever). It appears now to do the opposite, keeping the new items and removing all the flags. While I can't pinpoint when this started happening (sorry!), it has been working this way since at least KDE 4.3, and probably earlier.
Same issue here. I just migrated from KDE 3.5 (debian lenny) to KDE 4.4 (debian squeeze). In KDE 3.5, it worked fine, but there is a regression on that feature in kde 4.4
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
That's still the case for me with kmail2 (4.14.1).
Please add backtrace.
I'm sorry I don't know how to do that (there is no crash...) However to reproduce, you can copy a message twice to a folder and apply the clean up of duplicate messages. The first copy of the message is deleted first (to identity if, I marked it as "important" or as unread before copying the message for the 2nd time)
This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
This bug is still valid in KMail 5.2.3 (versions shipped with debian jessie (stable) : kdepim 16.04.3)
Thanks for the update; changing status.
Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version? If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
