Version: 1.4 (using KDE 4.4.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages I was (and still am) a big fan of Konqueror 3 as a file manager, and for more complex stuff I still prefer Krusader. But lately, I’m quite getting used to Dolphin now, for its capabilities have reached a level where it’s become quite usable. There are only minor details left that bug me: I find it difficult to get an idea about filesizes in a bigger list of files when it shows their sizes like this: 231.5 MiB 491.0 KiB 159.5 KiB 33.2 MiB 883.4 KiB ... Because both have vertical lines and diagonal ones in the same direction, M and K are hard to distiguish by just flying over the list. May I ask to consider adding a checkbox to the Details view options, which lets one chose to dis-/enable automatic base unit selection? (Just like *cough* Krusader does). It’s just faster if I can see from the length of a filesize string, how big files are in relation to one another. Thanks for your time.

Interesting, but i think this has to be done in a more system wide generic way. Or kde wide at the very least. My suggestion for this one is probably to add it to System Settings -> Country/Region & Language -> Numbers tab then add a field: "Filesize prefix type" which allows you to choose between "Binary prefix" (1024 - kiB aka kibibyte) or "SI prefix" (1000 - kB aka kilobyte) However, we might need to work together with Gnome here since Ubuntu has already changed to using the SI prefix: http://www.neowin.net/news/ubuntu-implements-units-policy-will-switch-to-base-10-units-in-future-release so making this a system wide thing is probably better. Even more extreme, this should probably go through freedesktop.org as well!
