Description Danny Auble 2010-02-18 18:12:56 UTC
Version: 1.13.0 (using 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-19-generic

When an email comes in with a '*' in the header it appears kmail now removes the portion of the address behind the '*' up to the first / or : so for instance, if the link 'http://*www.this.com' appears in an email message, when hovered over or clicked will result in just 'http:' and nothing more. This is new in kde 4.4.

At first I thought it might be the Replace smileys by emoticons but unchecking that didn't seem to do anything. Emails are as expected with other email clients.

This has become very annoying. No url coming into kmail gets processed correctly when it has a * in the url. Is anyone else seeing this?

do you have a real url with "*" ? in real life ?
I need to test it
Comment 3 Danny Auble 2012-08-17 17:49:43 UTC
I don't but to reproduce this you just send an email with the above http://*www.this.com link and if the bug is fixed the complete url will display instead of just 'http:'.

I haven't tested this in a while since I moved away from kmail so I am not sure if it still exists or not. All I knew at the time is kde 4.4 introduced the issue.

Thanks

so an url with "*" doesn't exist => it's not valid
=> it's not a bug in kmail :)
