Description Basti 2010-02-17 18:24:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Compiler: precompiled from http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/, repo: kde-testing
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Sometimes (rarely) a part of an opened window gets transparent when hovering over a plasma widget (no matter which) ie. in the taskbar. The bug exists at least since KDE 4.1.

I made a screenshot of that bug:
http://www.bas89.de/screens/Bildschirmfoto51.png
The tooltip triggering the bug has closed in the time KSnapshot started. After closing the affected window and opening it again the bug disappears.

I’m using an Intel graphics chip without activating any 3D effects.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

If you want more information please ask. This is my first bug report.

Example Screenshot.

The transparency “hole” is not necessarily under the tooltip, it can be anywhere else on any application window.

This has been reported a couple of times, unfortunately, it is a long-standing X.org issue: bug
177959 / bug 173686.
Thanks

This is clearly a Xorg bug, I was able to write a xlib-only testcas (as I was asked for), but then nothing happend.
