Description Kubuntiac 2010-02-16 06:36:27 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)

Currently when you choose various colours in Krita, they show up in the "popup pallette" without the user needing to go out of their way to add them there. This is very convenient.

By default, the positions for the brush presets are empty regardless which brushes have previously been used. This makes it unclear that the middle ring can be used for brushes, and inconvenient that a user has to go out of their way to add them.

Obviously, we want a user to be *able* to add a preset to the pallette (as they can now. What I'm suggesting though is that by default, we show the presets that the user has chosen to add, and then fill the remaining slots with the most recent brushes that have been used (much like with the recent colours). Each painttop that has been used could have one entry with it's most recent settings.

This way, if a user tried 7 different painttops but didn't add any of them manually to the popup pallette, they would still have a useful selection of tools there.

I think I missed adding this as a "Wishlist". If someone could change it, that would be great, as I don't seem to have permissions to do so. Thanks! :)

This topic was discussed a couple of weeks ago in #krita.

I think it sounds like a good idea, but maybe the user use other brushes a lot and still want to keep another brush that is not used as much. In this case, the lock and fifo method is in favour.

Based on the discussion on #krita a few weeks ago, we were thinking about using the lock and fifo method. The user can 'lock' some brushes and when the list is full the least used and unlocked brush will be replaced by a newly used brush.

We are going to talk about this later during the sprint.

Doesn't apply anymore as now presets are used.
