Description art alexion 2010-02-15 22:46:22 UTC
Application: kcmshell4 ()
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.00 (KDE 4.4.0)
Qt Version: 4.6.1
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-19-generic-pae i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

-- Information about the crash:
KDE 4.4
Kubuntu 9.10
System Settings > Advanced > User Management
Dialog reports that the component is missing. When I dismiss it, it triggers a crash. This occurs every time.

Ironically, the only reason I was creating a new user was to diagnose akonadi errors with this release.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

 -- Backtrace:
Application: KDE Control Module (kcmshell4), signal: Segmentation fault

Same problem as described by the original reporter. I wonder if this is not distribution specific, since we both use Kubuntu, and apparently it requires a python module, which is most uncommon for KDE...
Comment 2 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-02-16 08:37:07 UTC
Just asked the Kubuntu devs, this is indeed Kubuntu specific.
Comment 3 art alexion 2010-02-16 11:22:09 UTC
Myriam, should I also report to launchpad, or have you?
Comment 4 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-02-16 11:31:46 UTC
I already talked to the devs, a patch is under way for Karmic :) If you need it immediately, you should get the python-qt4 packages from the staging PPA (don't forget to disable the PPA once you have the packages). This solved my problem for now and it should end up in the kubuntu backports PPA later today.
Comment 5 art alexion 2010-02-16 19:43:35 UTC
Thanks Myriam. Assuming that is the same PPA which provided me with the KDE 4.4 packages, it is already enabled.
