Description Anne Wilson 2010-02-14 10:26:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

On many systems file indexing slows performance to an unacceptable level, and indexing seems to be updated very frequently. It would help if it were possible to enable indexing at certain times of day, overnight, or times when workload is lighter.

With the 4.10 release the file indexing has been improved a LOT and we have made sure that the indexing is not intrusive. This has been improved even more for the 4.11 release.

Given that the users end goal is to be able to search through their files, we do not feel that they should have to worry about indexing their files. It should happen seamlessly in the background without them noticing. This is kinda what we have achieved for 4.11.
