You need to restart ktimetracker for the setting change to become active.

There is a .kcfgc file and an auto-generated .h file and a ktimetracker.h and a ktimetracker.cpp file. All include ui_*.h files that I never heard of. They seem to use a framework called kcfg or kcfgc I know nothing about and there is no hint where it is documented. 

This mess is completely unmaintainable for me.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I will be closing this bug.
