Comment 1 Nicolas L. 2010-02-12 14:39:06 UTC
is the plasma-desktop package installed ?
Comment 2 Alessandro 2010-02-12 14:42:39 UTC
Of course it's installed, I wrote that it crashes and not that it doesn't work.

alex@kubuntu:~$ sudo apt-cache policy plasma-desktop
plasma-desktop:
  Installato: 4:4.4.0-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa5
  Candidato: 4:4.4.0-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa5

- Are the kdeedu* packages updated to the 4.4.0 version too ?
Regards
Comment 4 Alessandro 2010-02-12 17:19:44 UTC
kdeedu* packages wasn't installed. I think there are some missing dependencies.
Yesterday i've installed:
plasma-wallpaper-movingscene - a plasma wallpaper plugin
plasma-wallpaper-flymode - a plasma wallaper plugin
plasma-wallpaper-color2 - plasma wallpaper with the gradient
plasma-wallpaper-scripted-image - a plasma wallaper plugin
plasma-wallpaper-video - a video wallpaper
plasma-wallpapers-addons - addons for KDE 4 Plasma - wallpaper plugins

but this packages didn't have any dependencies by kdeedu* packages.
Now i've installed it with apt.
Comment 5 Dario Andres 2010-02-12 17:27:03 UTC
And, is Plasma still crashing after you installed the kdeedu* packages ? (kdeedu is related because the Globe wallpaper is based on the kdeedu application "Marble"). Regards
Comment 6 Alessandro 2010-02-12 17:32:47 UTC
No after I've installed the kdeedu* packages doesn't crashes, but i think that in package plasma-wallpapers-addons must be added depencecies by kdeedu* packages.
Comment 7 Dario Andres 2010-02-12 17:34:08 UTC
That's upto the distribution that packages KDE: please report this bug to Kubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/
