Description Jesse Milette 2010-02-11 14:05:24 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

after a while (possibly when i turn off compositing) all the devices vanish out of the device notifier plasmoid. they are still there, as dolphin sees them and the 'device manager' plasmoid can still see them. takes restarting plasma to get them back.

- Does this bug appear again if you repeat the situation ?
- Could you take a screenshot of the DeviceNotifier and the "Device Manager" widgets ?
Regards

The only way to get the devices to reappear was to restart plasma. Didnt matter if i took the cd out and put it back in. The issue seems to have been fixed with KDE 4.4.1.

Device Notifier after selecting device action.

Not fixed with 4.4.1 - at least not for me on Fedora 12.

Seems to occur only for Optical Disc media. The media correctly appears upon inserting the media. After selecting/running a desired action (e.g. dolphin/kaffeine/dragon player), this device appears to be removed from the DN list completely - even after ejecting the media manually and reinserting it.

Interestingly, what actually appears to be happening is that the device is pushed to the extreme top of the list - above the heading and beyond the visible portion of the DN widget. If you manage to select the barely visible device from the very top of the list, it seems to fall back into the fully visible area.

Note also that after unlocking, rearranging and then locking widgets, the problem went away entirely.

Based on this odd behavior, I'm guessing it'll be a real challenge to reproduce.

Screenshots attached.

Sorry for the double posts. Konqueror crashed. But that's another bug altogether. ;)

still happening here.

Marking as dupe of a bug reported later because it has a clearer explanation of steps for reproducing the issue.
I still can't reproduce, though :/
