Description Borden 2010-02-10 20:31:09 UTC
Version: 1.5.3 (using 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-2-686

Often when I am cleaning out my RSS feeds list I like to Shift+Select a range of articles and delete them in batches that way. Often, I'll stop my selection at the first article which may be interesting so I can skim it before deleting it.

However, I notice that, in the preview/message viewing area of Akregator that it shows the second-last item I selected. So, for example, I have the following articles in a feed.

A
B
C
D
E

I like to work from the bottom of a list, so I select E then Shift+Select up to say, article B. The article which shows in the preview area is article C (the second-last item selected) instead of article B. In order to show article B, I need to Shift+Up Arrow to select article A and then article B will show.

The expected behaviour is for the last item selected to be the item shown in the preview.

Seems to be fixed in 4.10.5

Sorry, scratch the previous message. It still is kinda present:

Yes, it works using the keyboard now. But say I start highlighting messages (clicking-and-dragging with the mouse) from the bottom up, so I drag over E, D, C, and B to highlight them. The message that shows in preview is still C, not B.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of akregator (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

The behaviour works normally on 5.2.3 if I click on the first item and shift+click on the last item. The last item shows in the preview pane.

Keyboard functionality seems not applicable since the ability to scroll through feed topics using the keyboard seems to have been removed. I guess the mouse-only interface is a feature not a bug.

The drag select only works from the bottom-up because you have to click on pure white space otherwise the title you started on gets selected. So, in my original example, to do a drag-select I'd have to start by selecting the white space after E and drag up. To that extent, the bug is still present.

I've just tested and selecting multiple articles will result in the last one highlighted being displayed correctly.

As for keyboard navigation it can still be done with left/right arrow keys or n/p for the left subscription list.

As for the mouse use I'm not able to select multiple articles with a rectangle drawn over them so this may need to be investigated. If this is still important to you please create a new bug report as it's a separate issue, thanks.

If you are happy I can set this to resolved if the E > B selection issue is resolved for you as well.

I don't seem to have this problem anymore in 5.15. I think it's been resolved.
