Description Dotan Cohen 2010-02-07 10:40:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

Please add menu items (and corresponding keyboard shortcuts and toolbar icons) for the different metadata of photos such as:
Show Filename
Show Filesize
Show Camera Creation Date
Show File Modification Date
Show Image DImensions
Show Digikam Captions
Show Digikam Tags
Show Digikam Rating

In my option the "Show Rotation Overlay Buttons" option should remain in the Digikam Settings dialogue.

Thanks.

Dolphin has this feature and adding it to Digikam would have the twofold benefit of increasing usability (I personally need to activate and deactivate Show Camera Creation Date often) and increasing consistency across KDE applications.

Yeah I know. See one of the recent A.Seigo blogs on Dolphin usability. I support moving some options from the settings dialog to menus.

With Digikam's current menu I would argue against this. Unlike Dolphin, Digikam has two view modes and the options would only affect the Album View, and not the Image View. The Menu options and the shortcuts would be irrelevant in Image View. I would suggest leaving it in "Settings" but making shortcuts configurable for when in Album View.

My redesigned Menu layout would address this issue differently though as I use a menu for 'Folder' and a menu for 'Image'. Adding the options to 'Folder' would work, because the options are only affecting Album View.

Supreme, then just ignore the metadata option in Image View. Arguing that the application should not have a useful feature in Album view just because it is not needed in Image view is ridiculous.

Maik,

I vote for no to this feature, as we have a lots of option from the setup dialog page to duplicate on main menu. This will bloat code and GUI.
