Description Ben Engbers 2010-02-05 23:53:46 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.5)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

After an automatic update (with Kpackagekit), the option to shutdown or reboot the system, has disappeared from the 'Leave' submenu in KickOff. The only way to shutdown is first to logout and than instead of logging in again, choose for shutdown.

How can I restore these options in Kickoff?

- Did you changed your login manager ?

Comment 2 Ben Engbers 2010-02-06 01:07:11 UTC
No, (I don't even know how to do that).

I have changed the session-manager to use KDE as default but that was a
long time ago.

Regards,
Ben

Somewhere I found that the following line would create an appropiate /etc/sysconfig/desktop-file:
echo "DISPLAYMANAGER=/usr/bin/kdm" > /etc/sysconfig/desktop

However, there are some applications that I can't use on this laptop, due to problems with the video-card (for example google earth and IBM Symphony) and it shows that the KDE login manager can be added to this list :-(
I couldn't log in and had to use the Fedora rescue disk to delete that file.

After yet another update, the shutdown and reboot-option have returned so the problem is solved. But I still don't know what has changed ;-)

Thanks for updating the bug status.
