Description Tom Kijas 2010-02-03 10:53:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Cannot logout from KDE anymore, don't know why, I used KDE4.4 rc2.
I can push logout, it asks me if I wanna to confirm this, I push again on the conf. button but it just dissapears and nothing is done. Second time I push the logout button it doesn't shows me even the confirmation button. With the KDE4.3.5 situation is the same.
If I login via kdm/gdm to xfce/gnome, logout or restart etc. is without problem. If I do it via kdm/gdm in KDE, it is not possible.

Create new user -> problem doesn't occur.
Uninstall KDE packages, deleting ~/.kde, install KDE packages -> problem occurs.
Comment 2 Tom Kijas 2010-02-03 22:25:02 UTC
After I deleted ./kde and installed KDE packages, I have still my settings in dolphin, in what file it is stored? Are there any other KDE-settings directory than a /.kde?

I tried kdeinit_shutdown in konsole, I read somewhere that it is the command to logout, but it says I have to install kdelibs4c2a, is it really important to logout from KDE4.3? Thanks

Thank you for the quick answer. I reinstalled the system.
Comment 5 Tom Kijas 2010-02-12 03:01:59 UTC
Každopádně díky za snahu, skutečně to oceňuji. KDE4.4 final mi dělá to samé.
Comment 6 Dario Andres 2010-02-20 03:44:55 UTC
It seems you have a broken installation, as kdelibs4c2a is part of KDE3
- Is the bug now fixed for you ? Regards
Comment 7 Paulo 2010-02-25 23:12:32 UTC
This problem started affecting my computers as well, after I upgraded from standard Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10.
Comment 8 Dario Andres 2010-02-26 12:54:03 UTC
@Paulo: your bug could be different, which KDE SC version are you using ? Have you tried with KDE SC 4.4 ?
Regards
Comment 9 Paulo 2010-03-03 13:43:33 UTC
Kubuntu's standard KDE 4.3.

My little baby (and some other problems) are preventing me from more thoroughly investigating what is going on. However, I noticed that manually running kdeinit{,4}_shutdown works.

What's involved with the logout process? Any dbus, xsm, xdmcp messaging involved?
