Version: 1.0.0 (using 4.3.95 (KDE 4.3.95 (KDE 4.4 RC2)), Kubuntu packages) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31-17-generic Hi, I am trying to use Kopete from KDE SC 4.4RC2 on Kubuntu 9.10 The problem I face is, that I can't get it to connect to MSN, I always get the prompt that the password I entered was wrong. The same message about the password being wrong is also shown in the terminal if I launch Kopete that way. However, Pidgin and Meebo can connect with the same password! I even tried to copy and paste the password from Pidgin's accounts.xml file into Kopete (after making a successful connection with Pidgin) to make sure that it's not me mistyping it for the 100th time. But Kopete still claims I'm giving it a wrong password.
The problem also affects Kmess.
Do you have in the password any non ascii characters?
No, only normal english letters.
Please check that you have set birth year and country for your account (using http://login.live.com/)
Yes, both are set.
Okay, I catched the problem! My password is 18 characters long. If I use a shorter password, everything works fine, both in Kopete and KMess. Is there a chance that in the future longer passwords will get supported?
I have met the same problem regarding long passwords in other KDE applications too. I'm closing this bug now and going to open a wishlist item for support of long passwords.
