Description Bernd Buschinski 2010-02-02 19:29:39 UTC
Version: 1.0.0 (using KDE 4.4.0)
Compiler: gcc-4.4.2
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

With kde-4.3.9[58] and kopete-1.0.0 when a knotify message is displayed and I right-click the kopete systray icon, the menu is hidden behind the message

This used to work fine with kopete-0.80.* and kde-4.3.*

I will attach a screenshot that shows the bug

- Does this happen all the times?
- Does this happen with other apps like KMix?
Regards

Yes happens all the time, but not will all apps

Yes it happens with kmix

Ok, I just check and I can't reproduce on 4.5trunk. Updating the title.

well, notifications are an always on top wndow (as is the only way they can work) so there isn't much that can be done about that...

Mh, but the other icons (using the old FDO protocol) do not experience this problem. May be some other onTop hint could be used ?

For me this happen for all context menus opened from the system tray that place themselves not exactly on the spot right-clicked with the mouse, but on top of the panel.

In addition, I am able to open at most one context menu at a time of both types. I can also open one context on top of the panel (e.g. kopete) and one right on the spot (e.g. akregator), hence having 2 popup menus open at the same time.

The inconsistency of this behaviour and the context menus shown on top of the panel being hidden behind notification messages is very annoying, especially when trying to close some application from the context menu and a notification jumps up a millisecond before I click quit, and I end up clicking on some notification I did not want to click, because the notification is displayed on top.

Also when having some kind of notification present showing the progress of a download or something similar, this makes the user unable to operate with certain context menus without first hiding/closing the notifications.

For some reason, "keep above others" windows are also hidden behind the notifications messages. Very annoying. KDE 4.4.2.
