Version: KDE 4.4 RC2 (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources Even when the names for the activities are very short the buttons for the activities are very wide in the activity bar. That's not necessary. There's no need for the activity bar to expand like the task manager. The buttons shouldn't be wider than the widest activity name plus some pixels.
I've got the same, please see below (best open in a new tab): Also, a right click behaves in the same manner as a left click, i.e. I cannot remove the space hogger... However, if I click on the show desktop icon, a right click behaves as expected. All very confusing. My workaround for the time being: show desktop - remove activity bar - add new activity bar (which has correct dimensions)
I confirm. Using KDE 4.4,2-1 Debian experimental. The activity bar is too wide. Make it smaller. Think Desktop pager with pop up titles. Isn't an "activity" really a "desktop" anyway from the user point of view? Confusing as hell for the user, all this overlapping functionality.
Activities widget also needs to be of the same capabilities as that of Pager widget for workspaces, like the ability to show activity number or Icon instead of full name (very irritatingly it occupies the whole panel in the present state even in KDE 4.5.1), and the ability to show in more than one rows, this would really make it much easier to use.
I confirm this bug. I am using KDE 4.4.5 from Debian unstable. Right click does not work at all. And the activity switch is too wide with 16 activities. In my opinion a new activity-AND-desktop switch should be developed for those of us that use activity-and-desktop mapping with enhaced features.
I am using 4.5.2 on Debian [ from the unofficial repository,http://qt-kde.debian.net/ ] The useless too wide activity bar remains, but an even larger desktop activities switch, available by right clicking on the desktop or clicking the "acorn" tool box in the upper right corner, not on the panel is a bit more functional and less rude. I'm running Plasma from master and I just noticed this bug in the following form: Start off by adding an activities bar in the lower panel: activities bar acquieres a given size (probably larger than what I'd like, but not really my issue here.) Then, as you switch activities, the bar grows larger and larger and larger until it occupies the whole panel. I have to say I had a great time reproducing this several times - pretty funny :) I'll be working on a fix for this.
Just to add on this bug and how to replicate it: 0. Start with at least two activities and at least two empty Desktops 1. Add an empty panel 2. Add an Activity Bar into that panel 3. Add a task bar into that panel 4. Start two tasks on a Desktop, in all activities 5. Start a single task on another Desktop, in all activities 6. Start switching activities in the two-tasks panel, the activity bar shrinks (and the taskbar grows) 7. Start switching activities in the one-task panel, the activity bar grows (and the task bar shrinks)
