In good old times of KDE3 (can't recall the exact versions, though) one could drag messages from a dimap INBOX to deep levels of folders, since if s/he hovered over a collapsed folder (with subfolders in it), then that folder got automatically expanded. KDE 4.3.5's kmail 1.12.4 lacks this, which is utterly annoying.
