Description Reindl Harald 2010-01-29 14:07:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Hi - I have submitted this also to fedora-bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=554566

In Konqueror/Dolphin if you use native remote-urls like sftp:// the counting of
files in listed folders is automatically disabled.

But if you browse a mounted remote-filesystem (curl, mount.cifs) it does the
same as for local folders what is really really slow. On mountpoints with many
folders this is hard because it will hang sometimes while scrolling down the
list

I think there are many optimizings if the protocol is visible in the url and
the same logic should be followed if the folder is non-local what should be
easy to check

Is there no way to submit bugs WITHOUT THE WIZARD
Five times in these dialogs i have selected KONQUEROR/DOLPHIN
Now "product" is "amarok"

Sorry, but it's painful needing 10 minuten for a bugreport with finsihed text for copy&paste and scary after that all see it's completly wrong
Comment 2 Kevin Kofler 2010-01-29 14:30:36 UTC
Probably because FileBrowser is an Amarok component. I reassigned the bug to Dolphin for you (as the file management parts of Konqueror are also handled by the DolphinPart).
Comment 3 Reindl Harald 2010-01-29 14:37:18 UTC
Thank you!

The bugtracker needs a little "tuning"

The "Continue" and "Search" buttons should be in the same line and more on top of the page, "Continue" is outside my viewport and so i'm caught in the wizard search as long i not scroll to bottom of the page

After three operations on my eyes and seven years developing web-apps i would say this is very bad usability - scrolling for basic-operations is very scary for people with health-problems like me

Is this still an issue with KDE Frameworks 5.44 or greater?
Comment 5 lists@rhsoft.net 2018-04-13 15:52:30 UTC
surely - and the same for "kdeconnect" when you have 30000 files on your SD-card - file-counting for fuse-mounts should be simply skipped at all
Comment 6 lists@rhsoft.net 2018-04-13 15:56:15 UTC
i have FIVE bounces after my comment

god damned why does the kde infrastructure use the reporters/commenters envelope-sender while internally don't skip SPF checks

If this is still an issue I will like to take this issue, this is my first bug so I am execting help too.
Comment 9 lists@rhsoft.net 2019-11-26 05:04:16 UTC
surely, just try it out

/etc/fstab:
sshfs#user@host:/ /media/local-mountpoint fuse noauto,user,rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,noatime

mount /media/local-mountpoint
open /media/local-mountpoint with konqueror and it counts

many folders with many files and a slow connction will drive you crazy

Done everything as you said . Please look at it here - https://pasteboard.co/IIsnxY6.png. It is counting only folders and files of that directory not from any subdirectory.

do i need to change setting of Konqueror or bug has already fixed?

And i don't think it is about counting files in folder's properties as that is the only place where all files count is mentioned
Comment 11 lists@rhsoft.net 2019-11-26 10:29:48 UTC
well, have fun if there is a subfolder from a cms-module which stores thousnads of files belonging to database records or open a mtp fuse folder with 50000 mp3 files in a flat directory

the point is with sftp:// in the address bar the countig is disabled, with fuse-sshfs it isn't while technically the same stuff over the network is involved

frankly, you even have the wrong view on your screenshot

Thanks lists@rhsoft.net , i am finally able to reproduce this bug - https://i.imgur.com/dxdxMoh.png . now can you tell how can i solve this?
Comment 14 lists@rhsoft.net 2019-11-26 13:48:41 UTC
dunno, that's why i wrote a bugreport

and for "kdeconnect" this is even more annyoing, it's using fuse-mounts behind the scenes and works over WLAN - before i got my 400 GB micro sd-card i was only bale to place a part of my 35000 music files on the phone, filtered by artist and genere and so they all ended in a single folder

well, connect to the phone with kdeconnect, select external sd-card and be quick or be dead to enter some other folder *before* it starts to count in "music"
Comment 15 Shubham 2019-11-26 14:17:34 UTC
This bug has junior-job tag so i thought you know how to solve it and waiting for any beginner to solve it. now can you assign me any other easy bug?
Comment 16 lists@rhsoft.net 2019-11-26 14:19:31 UTC
i am just a user - how do you imagine that i assign you anything?
