Description Peter Alexander 2010-01-27 18:38:00 UTC
Version:            (using Devel)
Compiler:          gcc version 4.3.4 (Gentoo 4.3.4 p1.0, pie-10.1.5)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Compiled sources

Restoring a minimized Konsole window from the taskbar causes the entire desktop to crash.

May, or may not, be due to processes running in Konsole at the time.

NOTE: THIS IS A CRITICAL BUG and has been an issue going back throughout (at least) the 4.3 series of versions.

Please put a priority on this bug.. it is a flaw that jeopardizes all _mission_critical_applications_ running on KDE desktop systems.

- What is your KDE4 version ? (svn revision and branch)
- What is your Qt4 version ? (release version or git revision)
- Do you get the crash handler dialog for the applications that crash ? (which ones crash?)
or does the whole X session crashes and you go back to the Login Manager ?
I think it is the first time I heard for a bug like this so it seems weird, that if you said that this exists since 4.3, nobody reported it previously.
Regards

Branch = 4.4
kdelibs rev. = 1080745
konsole rev. = r1080498

> - What is your Qt4 version ? (release version or git revision)

Branch = qt-nokia trunk-stable

No.. the X session crashes bringing back to the kde login manager.

Yes.

Ok. Yes, I think this an obscure situation that has occurred to me
frequently but intermittently since around (approximately) kde-4.3.

1) I have a Konsole session that has three SSH sessions (konsole tabs)
active to a remote machine.

2) 2 of the ssh sessions are running CLI processes on the remote machine.

3) When I restore the (minimized konsole -- taskbar) window, the X
session on my local machine crashes.

Thank you,
Peter Alexander

Comment 3 Dario Andres 2010-01-31 01:05:33 UTC
May be you could get more information about the errors in the .xsession-errors file ?
May be it is somewhat related to the graphics drivers?
(I don't really know too much about this, but I guess some other people can give you more feedback)

Thanks Dario. I forgot about looking at .xsession-errors. I'll have to
look at it next time it occurs.
