Description Adee 2010-01-27 01:38:20 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Compiler: GCC 4.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

When I click on a file and select properties in the right-click menu, my machine reads the entire file before showing up the properties dialog. It happens with every program that uses kde4 properties dialog. It is very flustrating, if I try for example with a 1.8 GB file, it stops dolphin/krusader/whaterver for almost a minute. To be more precise it takes 49 seconds with IO almost on 100% with reading 38MB/s speed on average. If we do a little calculation, it reads exactly my 1.8 GB iso file. Does this on every single file but not directories.
Other people also confirmed that this is a common bug.

very flustrating bug in RC2, it would be nice not to be included in the final 4.4

- Does this happen with every kind of file ?
- Do you have Nepomuk/Strigi enabled ?
Regards

It does this with every file, it does with both Nepomuk/Strigi enabled and disabled
Comment 5 surfed 2010-01-27 02:38:54 UTC
I can confirm this with Nepomuk/Strigi disabled.
Comment 6 Dario Andres 2010-01-27 02:49:44 UTC
I found an older bug report: bug 216932. Merging. Thanks
