Version: 4.3.4 (using KDE 4.3.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Fedora RPMs when krdc is running, kde's screen saver does not kick in. i have set my kde screen saver to use "blank screen" and to kick in after 1 minute of inactivity. when i use krdc and use the rdp protocol, i have noticed that if i leave the rdesktop session idle for a long time, kde's screen saver does not kick in.
Can you always reproduce this issue? Can you also reproduce when you start rdesktop from Konsole (KRDC RDP support is based on rdesktop)?
hello after filing this bug i decided to see how long i could go without it locking my screen. here's the funny thing round abouts 10 minutes it kicks in. i still need to time it exactly but this means something is delaying it. as to rdesktop .. i m using krdc coz i do not like using rdesktop - i have to switch between 2 rdp and a few vnc sessions quite a bit these day - so no i havent tried it. will it give it a try soon will also try to see if it the problem exists on vnc sessions too
more info 1. i use rdp session in full screen mode 2. my legacy os screensaver is also set to 1 minute - this one kicks in
1 more piece of information when rdesktop is in full screen mode AND focus is still with rdesktop, ctrl-alt-l (to lock) will work. however, when the focus is inside the rdp session, it wont lock
my apologies i meant rdp session not rdesktop
tested this way rdesktop -f windows_pc windows pc has setting for the screensaver to kick in after 1 minute local linux pc has setting for screensave to kick in after 1 minute observed the windows screeensaver take effect and the kde screen saver did not. left it for another few minutes and still not kde screen saver
Ok, so this is a rdesktop issue. Please report it to the rdesktop developers (rdesktop.org). Thanks! Please post the bug # afterwards here.
upstream bug https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2946948&group_id=24366&atid=381350
Thanks for reporting it upstream.
is this a kde problem? i mean rdesktop (rdp and vnc) as well as virt-viewer have this issue. note that *mplayer does not have this issue. that is when the input devices are left idle the screen saver kicks in .. interrupting the movie. would appreciate a second look at this issue thanks
hello urs in my previous comment i mentioned that this also affects rdp and vnc as well as virt-viewer which uses vnc at its core. so i dont think this is an upstream problem but something within kde. where within kde i dont have that knowledge. i would appreciate if you could take a second look at this issue and change the status of this issue. thank you
