Then there was a notice of an incoming message from knotify. When clicking on the View button it crashed Kopete. I restarted it, got another (the same as before actually) notice from knotify. well. It did it 4 or 5 times in a row (every time there was a highlighted incoming message notify) then it just returned to normal without having to either reboot or restart kde. It hadn't done it before but this was the very first time I got a highlighted message.
