Description Hansen 2010-01-16 19:53:43 UTC
Version: 0.10.0 (using KDE 4.3.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: openSUSE RPMs

Hi,

I install open Suse 11.2 on my computer and take all my foto's from a network drive bag to my computer including digikam4.db.
But when i open digikam 0.10 digikam is lost the connections between the pictures and the tags. Also the pictures from the album were not recognized. When i removed the file digikam4.db and start digikam again then he is seeing my pictures in the album.the old tags are there but the link between the picture and tag are gone.
Please help because it is a lot of work to set al the tags in place.

Thanks

How did you "take" your pictures from the network drive? Did you create a new collection, before or after copying the database?
What does "pictures from the albums were not recognized" mean?

I definitely recommend to use digikam 1.0.0, available for you from the OpenSuse Build Service.

I am not sure what your initial setup was like. Normally, even if you copy files outside digikam, it will detect that files are identical and preserve all metadata including tags.

Hello,

The following action were token.
As i deside to install a new Open suse version. i take the whole folder with
the foto's in it and the data base file. There come up a pop up screen with
the message "also copy the hidden files" this were confirmed so that the copy
start.
I installed the new Opensuse 11.2 with digikam 0.10.0.

I go to the network disc and copy the whole folders with foto's and the
database file bag to the computer.

Whats now happen is that digikam don't see any foto's. The tags been thare
but the link is missing between the tag and the foto.

When i now removed the database file and start up digikam again digikam make
a new database file and i can see the foto's. But the link between the foto
and the tag is stil missing.

You ask me "about pictures from the albums were not recognized" I mean with
the "old" database file there were no foto's to look at.
Zie also picture 1 for the albums there is nothing there.
Zie also pictures 2 and 3.

Picture 4,5,6, you can see what digikam did't after build up an new database
file.
Foto's been there.

I hope it's more clear now

THx

Ok, so the main problem is that there were no photos in digikam after copying back the collection.
It's clear that there are no tag<->image associations if there are no images. It's also clear that there are no tags - if tags were not stored in image metadata - after you removed the old db.

My recommendation is to use the old DB and digikam 1.0.0. It should detect the change in harddisk partition and ask you for confirmation that your collection has indeed moved.

New digiKam 4.11.0 is available with official PKG installer for OSX.

Can you reproduce the problem with this release ?
