What I was doing when the application crashed:
The following sequence of actions leads to this crash:
1. Open Appearance->Splash Screen->Get New Themes
2. Go "Back" to all system settings without closing the download dialog
4. Opening Appearance->Splash Screen->Get New Themes now crashes

This can be reproduced on my machine.
