Version:           1.0.0-beta5 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

1) I would like to be able to choose which exif information to display. Personnaly Focus Distance is very important to me. I have to use command line
exiftool -r -FocusDistance -FocusPosition <image file>
to get it.

2) I would to be able to sort my picture by Focus Distance.

FocusDistance looks like a tag that is special for one camera brand. What brand is you camera of. Normally you should be able to see it in the metadata tab of the right sidebar under "Makernotes".

Nikon D90. I don't see it in the Markernotes. Please find the copy

Metadata filter have been implemented in 1.0.0 final release.

As usual, as 1.0.0 is out, please don't report a bug with an old beta5 !

Metadata filter include Exif, makernotes, Iptc and Xmp info. Go to setup metadata page a set your prefered tags to display on metadata side bar.
