Ive have previously has it connected to my home wireless network flawlessly. Im running openSuse 11.2 on my Asus Eee pc netbook that has a built in wireless adapter. The crash consisted of my computer locking up for a minute or more while trying to connect to the network, forcing me to turn off the netbook. -- Backtrace: Application: KNetworkManager (knetworkmanager), signal: Segmentation fault [KCrash Handler] #6 0xb64554da in QString::operator=(QString const&) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #7 0xb70cb196 in Knm::Connection::setOrigin(QString const&) () from /usr/lib/libknminternals.so.4 #8 0xb7094d9d in ConnectionListPersistence::restoreConnection(QString const&) () from /usr/lib/libknmservice.so.4 #9 0xb7096bbe in ConnectionListPersistence::init() () from /usr/lib/libknmservice.so.4 #10 0x08053a10 in _start () Reported using DrKonqi
Now networkmanager wont even load. it just comes up with the crash report assistant. I really need my internet. -wes
KNM can't itself make your machine lock up; that sounds like a wireless driver bug. Since it crashes every time this should be easy to fix. Could you please install NetworkManager-kde4-debuginfo from the the debug repo and get a full backtrace? Also attach a tarball of ~/.kde4/share/apps/networkmanagement and ~/.kde4/share/config/networkmanagementrc to this bug report. When you've done that, if you move both those paths aside you should be able to recreate the connection and hopefully KNM won't crash.

@Will: bug 215593 seems to have a related complete backtrace. Regards
