Description Rico Zienke 2010-01-10 10:32:15 UTC
Version: KDE 4.4 RC1 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

Hi,
I'm using kubuntu packages I updated to KDE 4.4.RC1 and before (same issue here the kde 4.4 beta2) KDE 4.3 . It is running on a targa 1016 netbook.

Since these mentioned upgrades the performance on start up is very poor.
I need about 3:20 min until the UI is ready.
1. From boot to kde splash 30 sec.
2. from kde splash to screen 60 sec (also this is long!)
3. and (this behaviour is new since 4.4 beta2) I need 110 sec until plasma is ready. I see here only a black screen. Applications are already available but plasma is still not ready.

I have one taskbar, a clock, xeyes, notes, daisy and play wolf plasmoid.
Because on KDE 4.3 I did not experience this behaviour (point 3) I think there is a bug.

Best Regards,
Rico

Does the delay in plasma happen on every login? You could try removing applets to see which one is the culprit.

Hi Christoph,
>Does the delay in plasma happen on every login?
No only on first boot.

Good idea.I removed all mini programs and it worked fine again. Now I added each plasmoid until I had the same plasmoids like before. The issue is away!

I guess an old 4.3 setting caused trouble here, which can be solved by dropping all plasmoids and adding them again.
Thanks!
