Version: 4.4 beta 2 (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources After editing an item (both events and to-do) in an Akonadi compatibility resource, Kontact freezes and must be killed. The Akonadi resource used is a local ics file (default std.ics from KOrganizer used as native resource). Not even a restart of the Akonadi server (in System settings) helps. However, the data is saved because it is available after a restart of Kontact and also shown before the freeze. This doesn't occur in KOrganizer directly, only when using Kontact.
Actually "compiled from sources" is wrong because I use the packages from the KDE4 Factory Desktop repository from openSUSE Build Service on openSUSE 11.2
I can confirm this for the Fedora 12 x86_64 KDE SC 4.4 rc1 packages. I have an groupdav resource connected via akonadi, and everytime i change something I have to restart kontact. korganizer is working well, starting it standalone.
additional comment, no process is going crazy, there is nothing speccial to see in the process view or in top.
It occurs also in RC1 here. Kontact freezes even if I have started KOrganizer standalone before and I edit an item in KOrganizer. KOrganizer still behaves normal as before. I am not sure if that is relevant, but Kontact had the Summary View shown with the (combined) planner applet on it, so it also accessed KOrganizer's data.
I don't use the planner view, but if I remove the 'Besondere Termine' (special dates) part from my summary view kontact seems to work without a problem.

I confirm that disabling "Special dates" in summary view seems to "solve" the problem.
Ah, so the special dates are the culprit. This bug #226636 pinpoints just the summary view.
Hm, I cannot confirm that disabling only special dates in summary solves the issue. I have to disable both special dates and calendar. The planner, kmail, and pending todos seem to cause no problems.
(In reply to comment #9) > Hm, I cannot confirm that disabling only special dates in summary solves the > issue. I have to disable both special dates and calendar. The planner, kmail, > and pending todos seem to cause no problems. I have to correct my statement a bit. After disabling both special dates and calendar, the freeze occurs less frequent, but sometimes it still occurs.
Confirmed! Removing "Special Dates" from Summary View "solves" the Problem. No crashs anymore. KDE SC 4.4.3 / Debian "sid" (sidux)
The compatibility resource is no longer used. Korganizer has been ported to akonadi.
