Description Christoph Lange 2010-01-04 15:43:32 UTC
Version: 2.2.0 (using 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-thinkpad

The media keys on my keyboard are recognized by X but I can't use them as global shortcuts in Amarok. Same problem as bug 202747, but on X this time.

How to reproduce:
1. configure shortcuts
2. use the default assignment for e.g. Play/Pause (i.e. Meta+C) -- works
3. use a media key (e.g. Media Play = XF86AudioPlay) -- doesn't work

Same for the other common media keys.

What keyboard is it? Some brands have a very special default setting.

Actually I have two keyboards. One built into my ThinkPad T61, the other one is a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110. But I really think it does not matter. I should have been more explicit in my original report, but X.org recognizes the keys as XF86Whatever, and KDE also recognizes them when I assign the shortcuts in the configuration dialog. That's why I blame it on Amarok.

Oh, and they (at least Media Play, which I tried just now) work when I assign them as "alternate" local shortcuts.

Could you upgrade to the latest Amarok 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 beta 1 and check if this still happens?
BTW, Amarok 2.2.2 final is due later this week, you might want to wait till then.

I tried with what Gentoo offers as 2.2.1.90 (dated December 16), and the bug is still there.

Now tested with 2.2.2. Works – thanks!
