Plasma comes back up automatically after a chrash. But after the first chrash, the chrash handler does not pick up on the chrash. 
So on the second chrash you will not get the chrash handler and therefore the back-trace.

To be clear. The chrash handler works fine the first time plasma chrashes. not after.

Only took me about 100 crash reports to figure that out. It's almost hard to write "crash" now ;-)
