Description Hugh Urwin 2009-12-30 21:29:31 UTC
Version: 0.99.80 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

it happens on kde 4.4 starting with beta 1 and it is still doing it on kde 4.3.85 beta2 "release 203". It also crashes the panel (at least makes it disappear and reappear after a few seconds). Theres some other pplications having the same effect on panel when cosing them but it happens more randomly than with kopete, which is doing it every time.
Comment 1 Hugh Urwin 2009-12-30 21:31:24 UTC
I cant provide other info (like a backtrace) because the bug reporting system is digging its heels in about the info not being uselful.
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2009-12-30 22:13:19 UTC
- Are you using OpenSuse ?
Comment 3 Hugh Urwin 2009-12-31 02:47:16 UTC

Install the "kdenetwork4-debuginfo" and "kdelibs5-debuginfo" packages and you should get a complete backtrace to paste in this bug report. Thanks

Sorry about the delay. Anyways, those packages don't seem to be available
on Opensuse

I installed kdelibs4-debuginfo just in case it would do but I'm still not
get what the bug reporting application would class as a valid report.
It is not only kopete but most applications (dolphin, gwenview, etc) that
are randomly crashing plasma desktop when closed. This is the best report
I could get and . Notice that it is RC1 now.

Application: plasma-desktop (0.3)
KDE Platform Version: 4.3.90 (KDE 4.3.90 (KDE 4.4 RC1)) "release 209"
Qt Version: 4.6.0
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.8-0.1-default i686

-- Information about the crash:
<In detail, tell us what you were doing when the application crashed.>

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

  -- Backtrace:

As this report is about Kopete, paste only the Kopete backtrace in here, please.

So, for the Kopete report you need: "kopete-debuginfo" and "kdelibs4-debuginfo"

For the Plasma report (please open a new report...) you need "kdelibs4-debuginfo" ,"kdebase4-workspace-debuginfo" and "libqt4-debuginfo"

Thanks....
