Description Andrey 2009-12-28 11:27:01 UTC
Version: kde 4.4 beta 2 (using Devel)
Compiler: gcc version 4.4.1 (Ubuntu 4.4.1-4ubuntu8)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Compiled sources

Steps to reproduce.

1. Install KDE 4.4 beta 2 from Kubuntu ppa: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/beta/ubuntu karmic main

2. Use this blog http://trueg.wordpress.com/category/nepomuk/ to build from source and install:
  2.a. virtuoso 5.0.12 (configure it with "./configure --prefix=/usr/local --localstatedir=/var --disable-all-vads")
  2.b. soprano 2.3.70 with:
-- Soprano Components that will be built:
   * Redland storage backend
   * Sesame2 storage backend (java-based)
   * Virtuoso storage backend (Run-time dependancy: Virtuoso)
   * Raptor RDF parser
     (including TriG parser)
   * Raptor RDF serializer
   * The CLucene-based full-text search index library
   * D-Bus server/client support

3. Turn on Nepomuk and Strigi in System Settings and wait until indexing of the chosen directory is finished.

4. Run Dolphin and try to search a document within subdirectories of the directory that have been indexed in previous step. Search is set to "From Here".

5. The result is "No items found", although the document is there. KRunner doesn't show any result either although Nepomuk plugin is enabled in KRunner.

Any chance you could test kde svn trunk which works for me?
Comment 3 Andrey 2009-12-29 12:08:12 UTC
Well, I can try, but I am not sure. The problem is that I am using Acer Aspire One with just 8Gb hard drive and I don't know how much space I need to build the whole KDE from source, I've never done it before. Do you have any idea? And also I am not sure if it is possible to have two separate KDEs on one computer with an option to switch between them. However I am interested in helping you to solve the issue, so not everything is so bad ;)

I can confirm that, freshly installed 4.3.90 on fedora 12, was built last night from tarballs i guess...
what would i have to recompile from svn to test that?
Comment 5 thomas gahr 2010-01-09 02:38:00 UTC
Wait, sorry... it works in krunner, only fails in dolphin for me...
Comment 6 Andrey 2010-01-11 17:16:24 UTC
Yeah. I've installed kde 4.4 rc1 on my Kubuntu as well. And the search is working in KRunner, but not working in Dolphin.
