Description Paul Wragg 2009-12-27 12:31:53 UTC
Application that crashed: kile
Version of the application: 2.0.84
KDE Version: 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 6"
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 11.2 (i586)"

What I was doing when the application crashed:
Difficult to pin down. In relation to previous crash report, 216048, I downloaded and compiled from the latest source (filename kile-2.1b3.tar.bz2) and followed the instructions in the tarball (which btw were completely different to the website instructions requiring me to use cmake instead of configure):

shasum -a 256 -p kile-2.1b3.tar.bz2
95ceae4a404facd49825a5dec41fa66ff42a6cc73bb4a5f54145762709cbee63 ?kile-2.1b3.tar.bz2

md5sum kile-2.1b3.tar.bz2
5de96712686e82fa17732c0d0cf0cc3f kile-2.1b3.tar.bz2

Kile has since performed very well. Today's session was very heavy with much repeated building of LaTeX source. I installed a couple of minor package resource files and ran texhash and updmap. Apart from being a heavy session, I was doing nothing unusual.

This crash occured WITHOUT me deliberately closing Kile. I was researching KOMA-Script options in Firefox (Mozilla Firefox 3.5.6, Copyright (c) 1998 - 2009 mozilla.org) and quit the browser due to strange behaviour. Kile quit immediately after in the other Workspace.

There does not seem to be anything specific to repeat the crash (or I'm just not observant enough!). A session usually results in many applications / windows being open simultaneously (often Kile + Firefox for research + Nautilus for file management + Evolution etc etc). I can only guess (I'm not a programmer) that the issue I'm experiencing has something to do with repeated builds of LaTeX source - usually complex source.

Hope this helps! :-)

According to bug 218145, this should be fixed on beta3. Bug 218630 looks also related.
@Michel: is your last fix included in beta3 ?
Thanks
Comment 2 Michel Ludwig 2010-01-01 12:46:32 UTC
@Dario: No, the latest fix is not included in beta 3.

Can you please try out the latest SVN version and check whether the problem still occurs?

You can find some installation instructions here:
