What I was doing when the application crashed:
Kontact crashed in the background when I was doing other tasks.

KOrganizer was the active component, and it was set on month view. I use Akonadi to connect to a Google Calendar as my primary calendar, and my address book birthdays and a read-only ical from an internet source (meetup.com) as my only other calendars.
